There are two main ski areas in Bansko: (1) Shiligarnika, located at 1,700 - 2,500 m, and (2) Chalin Valog, located at (1,100 - 1,600 m). Both can be found on the northern gradient of the Pirin Mountains. If you are looking for slalom runs you will find them at Shiligarnika, which boasts a track with a length of 95 km. To gain access to the slopes there is a gondola lift for your convenience. At this time Bansko has plans to compete as the venue for the Winter Olympic in 2014.

Summer in Bansko

Bansko isn't just ideal for winter vacations; summers in Bansko are warm and sunny from May until October. With a variety of waterfalls, lakes, and historical locales you will find plenty to do during the summer months. The Pirin mountain range provides great views and opportunities for hiking. If you are looking for a summer of relaxation and fun, Bansko has everything you need, including healing waters in the nearby springs.

Bansko Traditions

Bansko is full of cultural sites, with over 120 monuments for you to see. The town is best known for the Bansko School of Art as well as its many museums. When in Bansko don't forget to visit the Holy Trinity Church which boasts a clock and bell tower that is 30 metres high. The church also contains historical woodcarvings and wall murals that are a must if history is your interest. Travel to Bansko in August will include the National Jazz Fest. Other tourist attractions in Bansko include shops, pubs, and unique museum collections. As well, Bansko is perfect for a romantic getaway.
